To a Skylark

Choral

SATB and cello

3'

'To a Skylark' belongs to a series of choral pieces written by Arakelyan inspired by the natural world, including her setting of William Wordsworth's 'I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud', Christina Rossetti's sea-related poetry in 'Seascapes' and her an 'An Ode to the World'. It is an energetic setting of Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem relating to the joyous nature of a skylark, driven by the ostinato figures in the cello part.
